Basic Tomato Sauce

Professional Chef or home-cook, a basic tomato sauce is a recipe that you have to have in your repertoire. Is the base of so many other sauces but it’s also great as it is.

Have it with some pasta or to top your pizza.



  • 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 4 clove garlic minced
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • Salt and black pepper


  1. Finely chop the onion and the garlic and prepare a pan with 4 tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the canned tomatoes and fill up the can with water and add. Add oregano, bring to a boil stirring often. Lower the heat and simmer for 45 minutes, add sugar, season with salt and pepper.
